Many companies that do business within a metro area have to make regularly scheduled deliveries throughout the city as well as further abroad. Their regular need for doing business with a city courier company often leads them to trying to find ways that they can effectively reduce their shipping costs, as obviously this is taking a portion out of the prospective profits. One question that many people have is that if they have their regular courier services pick up multiple deliveries at once, if they can obtain a discount. There isn't a quick answer to this question, because much of the answer will depend on the specifics of any given case. While yes, it could be very possible for a discount to be applied to a situation like this in certain situations, there are others where no savings would likely be incurred. Also, a lot of the pricing on an issue like this is up to the individual discretion of the local courier service that you use for your deliveries.

The best thing to do if you see having multiple deliveries being picked up at once as being a viable process for your company to implement is to discuss your delivery rates with someone at the local courier service that makes your deliveries. Usually, the chances of obtaining a discount will depend on the paths the deliveries are going to have to take. If you normally have a pickup that is made en route to the delivery, and all the packages are going that direction a savings might be possible. On the other hand, if some are going one way and others are going to have to be sent another direction to be dispatched it doesn't really save the company any money, and what in effect happens in a situation like this is if they courier saves money, they may be able to pass some of that savings along to you, depending on the particulars.

Where you might be able to save money is if you deal with a reputable courier service that charges a flat pick up fee for every package. If all packages picked up are redistributed to delivery vehicles regardless and you are charged a fee for every pickup, you may be able to save some money by having all packages picked up at once. It is issues like this that make holding an account with a courier important, so you can have a real business relationship where issues like this can be effectively addressed.
